At the 53rd annual meeting of SEDSI in Charleston, South Carolina, business professor Serina Al Haddad and business management and economics double major Daniela Victoria Otelo Diaz ’24 presented their fall 2023 collaborative independent student research about how the luxury fashion powerhouse LVMH adeptly tackled the pandemic-induced challenges within its fashion and leather goods sector.

The French group LVMH owns prestigious brands such as Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Guerlain, Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co., and Séphora, among others. Employing applied business analytics and behavioral economics perspectives, the study yielded crucial insights, emphasizing the paramount significance of resilience in the face of adversity and the pivotal role of operational agility in fostering data-driven decision-making.

SEDSI is the southern member of the Decision Sciences Institute, a multidisciplinary international association dedicated to advancing knowledge and improving instruction in all business and related disciplines, including information systems, analytics, and supply chain management.
